1. Short description:
The knowledge of historical truth, the development of civic
spirit, respect for human rights and freedoms, interculturality, the promotion
of tolerance and empathy, involvement in scientific and cultural research
activities in order to know the traditions and customs of other peoples,
involvement in sketches and role plays to understand and outlive the important
moments in the history of humanity of the twentieth century, the creation of
documentary materials about the Holocaust, genocide, freedom, democracy in the
school magazine, local media, school site and project partners, the
organization of a symposium through which students share with other colleagues
, teachers, community, representatives of other cultural and educational
institutions, the importance of participation in educational projects with
intercultural, historical impact.
2. Project Narrative
I.
THE OBJECTIVES:
1. Understanding events such as the Holocaust, genocide
and totalitarianism that have changed the European history of the 20th century ;
2. Interculturality by knowing the traditions, customs,
gastronomy and the type of clothes of other peoples, especially Jews and
Gypsies;
3. Identifying the truth out of historical sources,
archives, testimonies, the media, and identifying similarities and differences
of approach throughout history;
4. The Knowledge of local history in a national and
European context and development of activities to promote it.
II.
THE COMPETENCES:
1. Students should
know the historical truth in order to be able to adopt a clear, correct
position, without hatred and bias towards the facts / events that marked the
history of humanity in the twentieth century;
2. Students should
learn to respect human rights and freedoms, regardless of religion, ethnicity,
social category, profession, political affiliation, etc.;
3. Students should understand
the need to promote local, national, and universal values in the current
historical context;
4. Students should be able to select, from
different sources of information, the correct information about facts, events,
people, processes that have unfolded in the history of the 20th century.
III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION / ACTIVITIES:
Activity 1. Organization
of workshops for: sketches, mapping, articles, leaflets, symposium works,
ethnography and folklore – February-October 2019
Through
individual and group study, the work aims to support the promotion of civic
spirit, tolerance, interculturality, promotion of the cultural values of other
peoples, respect for rights and freedom of expression, awareness and
understanding of how totalitarian regimes in the twentieth century they have
made their mark on the evolution of Jews, Gypsies and other ethnicities in
Romania and Europe, including the staging of episodes that have changed
destinies, have changed the future.
All
these are needed to prepare the main activity-the symposium.
Activity
2. Foaia de istorie/ The history sheet- May-October
2019
Students will learn to select
information from the literature on Holocaust, genocide, liberty,
totalitarianism, interculturality, rights, freedom that they will address
without hatred, bias, exaggeration, to produce articles, leaflets, useful
materials for the community, instructive-educative, other young people who will
be involved in the future approach of similar themes.
Activity
3/Main Activity. Symposium HISTORY .... BEYOND
WORDS, 9-10 October 2019
This is
the main activity through which pupils and teachers will present materials
about the Holocaust in Romania and the genocide of the Gypsies. The papers will
be based on archive documents, published scientific papers, other information
provided by institutions empowered to know historical truth, inhuman measures
to which Jews and Gypsies, in particular, have been applied by the authorities
before, during and after the Second World War. It is important to know the past
to look with responsibility, tolerance and much wisdom to the future.
Activity 4. ISBN publication of the CD with the works of
the symposium, November 2019. The activity will
be the result of the work done by students during this project. Each student,
teacher, school involved will receive this product, which will also include the
following workshop, mapping materials, the presented sketches in order to be
presented to other students, teachers, parents, community, to involve students
in as many educational projects as
possible.
Activity 5. Final Activity/Dissemination. All the people involved in the project will
participate to present the strengths and weaknesses of the project activities,
the way they have been monitored and publicized. The activity retrospective
will be completed, the Journal of Impressions will be completed and CDs and
diplomas will be handed in.
IV.
TARGET GROUP:
50 students, 5 teachers, 5
members of the local community: Oradea Jewish Association, the County Library,
University of Oradea and other high schools in the city.
V.
ESTIMATED RESULTS:
Students: indirectly, the
subject is addressed to all students and teachers in the school (560 students
and 35 teachers). Parents will also be involved in the activities proposed by
this project, especially at the symposium on the theme: HISTORY .... BEYOND
WORDS, which we propose to organize in partnership with other schools in the
municipality, the Jewish Association of Oradea, with Holocaust survivors,
Oradea City Hall, University of Oradea and, last but not least, the School
Inspectorate of Bihor County.
School:
through
the “PARENTES” Parents’ Association, will support each task of the target
group. The Partnership with “SPIRU HARET” Public Institution High School in
Chisinau will give another dimension to this project. Students in the Republic
of Moldova will play role-plays, sketches, ppt presentations, articles for
school magazines, and school bulletins on Holocaust, genocide, democracy,
liberty, totalitarianism, the role of interculturality, etc.
Community:
every
educational and educational project brings a positive value to the community. Signing partnerships, enhancing
future collaboration, participating in as many local and national activities as
possible, increasing interest in teaching, educational, cultural, scientific
and historical activities of pupils and teachers, dissemination of these
activities at the level of partner institutions. In the future, involving more
than one institution and school in such projects.
VI.
THE REFLECTION
PROCESS
Creating
an Impressions Journal (Diary) in which the participants in the project, both
the target group and the partners will specify what they liked , the strengths
and weaknesses, the making of questionnaires on which to make a General Report
of the project, starting point for other projects, roundtable to attend and
press, presenting the project to other schools within the pedagogical circles,
pupils of other schools through the Students’ Councils and by all modern means
of information: Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp etc., publishing the most important
moments on the site of the County Library and of the City Hall of Oradea.
Meeting with the professors and students of the University of Oradea and with
the other partners to have an external feedback from which to ponder in the
realization of other projects in the future.
